ELECTRIC
WIND GOD FIST

The wind god fist, the electric and the perfect electric: three versions of Kazuya’s most famous move, and the only difference between them is when the 2 goes in. Here is each one, frame by frame, and how to practise it.

Perfect Electric (PEWGF):2: one frame each, no downi13, the fastest it can come out

In text notation: f, n, d, df+2 for the wind god fist and electric, and f, n, df+2 for the perfect electric. The colon in :2 means “on the same frame”.

How to do the electric, step by step

  1. Forward : tap it. You can also hold it; only its last frame counts.
  2. Neutral : let go of everything for a frame. This is required: without it the motion never starts.
  3. Down : the crouch dash begins.
  4. Down-forward and 2 together :2: the 2 has to land on the very frame you reach down-forward. That is the whole difference between lightning and no lightning.

The perfect electric (PEWGF)

The perfect electric is the same move done in the fewest frames possible: forward for one frame, neutral for one frame, then down-forward and 2 on the same frame(:2). Skipping the down (that motion is Kazuya’s Mist Step) is what saves the frame: it comes out on frame 13 instead of 14.

Hold forward as long as you like before it; what has to be exact is the single neutral frame and the df:2 right after it.

Common mistakes

  • No lightning: the 2 came after df. Press df and 2 as one press, not df then 2.
  • Only df+2 came out: no neutral. Forward went straight into down or down-forward. Let go for one frame.
  • A jab: the 2 came while you were still on down, before down-forward.
  • Electric, but not perfect: you went through down, or the neutral lasted two frames. Trim it to f, n, df:2.

Practise it

The Perfect Electric lab teaches all three in order: wind god fist, electric, then perfect electric. In practice a meter shows the frames you spent on f, n and d, whether the 2 landed on the df frame, and the startup you got (i13, i14, i15…). Switch the opponent to guarding to see +5 on block, and chase an electric streak on the world leaderboard.

FAQ

What is the input for the electric wind god fist (EWGF) in Tekken 8?

Forward, neutral, down, down-forward and 2 (f, n, d, df+2), with the 2 pressed on the exact same frame you reach down-forward. Pressing 2 even one frame later gives a normal wind god fist with no lightning.

What is the difference between EWGF and PEWGF?

A perfect electric (PEWGF) skips the down: forward for one frame, neutral for one frame, then down-forward and 2 on the same frame (f, n, df:2). It comes out on frame 13 instead of 14, which makes it a faster punish.

Is the EWGF plus on block?

Yes. Kazuya’s electric is +5 on block, while a normal wind god fist is -10 on block. That is why getting the 2 on the df frame matters so much.

Do I need the neutral in f, n, df+2?

Yes. The neutral is what turns the forward into the start of the motion. If forward goes straight into down or down-forward without a neutral frame, no wind god fist comes out at all: you get Kazuya’s df+2.

Can I hold forward before the electric?

Yes. You can walk forward or buffer forward during block stun as long as you like. What counts is the last forward frame, then one frame of neutral, then df and 2 together.

How do I do EWGF on keyboard or hitbox?

Tap forward, let go, then press down, forward and 2 together for the perfect version (or down first, then forward and 2 together for the normal one). On a hitbox or keyboard the buttons are separate, so pressing down-forward and 2 on the same frame is easier than on a stick. The trainer shows the frames of each part so you can see what was late.
